Wavy Wall

I painted one side of one wall with Gesso this morning. I'm pretty sure that this is the WalMart foam board. It might work for smaller projects but I don't know about this one?

I turned it over and tried to weigh it down flat. The paper on the outside corner of the doorway cracked. It's not that noticeable, but I don't like it.

I'm going to Gesso the other side, let it dry and then put some heavy books on top. We'll see how it goes.... I may end up having to cut a new wall with the "good stuff?"

I'm not getting much done around here even though I stayed home from work yesterday. I still have chills and a fever! Guess it's time to call the doctor? I'll do that later. Promise.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up for the give-a-way! You have until April 1st to enter. :D

I think it will work out if you do the other side with gesso.
I hope you feel better soon.

Hello Kathi,
I hope you're doing better and will be all well soon. Maria is right. I've made walls out of foam core and illustration board. th4e trick is to paint both sides at the same time. If only one side is wet it will warp.
I hope you can fix it.
All the best,
Giac

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you were going for a modern accent wall. ;] Warping is a pain! Feel better soon!

Kathi, You have to do both sides at once. You can't let one side dry before painting the other....I remember telling you that the other day. If at first you don't succeed....

If you weight it down, be sure to cover it with waxed paper, so that you don't mess up the paint job or the weights!

Good news! I painted the second side with Gesso. Let it dry. Then I weighed it down with books. It's flat as a board now! :D
Now I'm playing with painted torn paper and ModPodge to see if I can make something that looks like stucco?
Thanks for your well wishes! I'm starting to feel a little better. :D

Hi Kathi, I want to say the same as the other bloggers: paint both sides the same time! It will work out well.
Hope you can save the piece you've already done. Fingers crossed.
Hugs, Ilona

You can also use the stuff you use to fill up holes in wood to make a stucco like look and it is light weight. I am happy for you that wall is flat again! Hugs, Vall

Hi Kathi, first, you commented on my blog that you have been diagnosed with bronchitis - please rest and take care of yourself. I've also read the comments here and see that you have flattened out the wall - good news. For a stucco finish I've had good results in 1:12th scale using facial tissues (one ply at a time) and painting it on sort of roughly to the surface; also by mixing talcum powder into the paint to make a gloopy mix and dabbing it on with a coarse brush then giving it extra texture if desired with the ends of the bristles of another coarse brush.
Hugs, Sandie

Consulta al médico, ya son varios días!
Debes usar el geso en ambos lados al mismo tiempo para que no se combe!
Un abrazo

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments and suggestions!
I think the Gesso will be fine. I like Sandra from Sydney's ideas for doing stucco. I've tried them both and like the Kleenex one best.
Hopefully, I will soon have three walls DONE! :D
